Attorney.

Meet with an attorney or legal agent in order to establish your Will or Trust and document your wishes in regards to the future of your bird.


File.

Please keep a file of your parrot at home in an easily accessible place. The file on your parrot should include, but may not be limited to:

– A description of your birds likes, dislikes, history, phobias, physical disabilities, special needs and any other important information related to your parrot. A written biography and character description about your parrot will be perfect.

– Medical records, acquisition records, receipts for purchases affiliated with your parrot and any other documentation dealing with your parrots health.

– A list of your wishes dealing with your bird(s) and the care you wish for it to receive. Also pre-establish a file for the parrot sanctuary.

Bequest Options include:

Specific Bequest: States a specific dollar amount, percentage of your estate or property you would like Cape Fear Parrot Sanctuary, Inc. to receive. Sample language for this bequest is below.

“I give, devise and bequeath _____% of my estate (or specific assets) for the benefit of Cape Fear Parrot Sanctuary, Inc., 6515 Old Fort Road, Wilmington, NC 28411, FEIN 46-3948223, to be used for its general purposes.”

Residuary Bequest: Use this bequest when you intend to leave the residue portion of your assets after other terms of the will have been satisfied. Sample language for this bequest is below.

“All the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate, both real and personal, I give to Cape Fear Parrot Sanctuary, Inc., 6515 Old Fort Road, Wilmington, NC 28411, FEIN 46-3948223, to be used for its general purposes.”

Contingency Bequest: A Contingency Bequest allows you to leave a portion of your estate to Cape Fear Parrot Sanctuary, Inc., if your named a beneficiary does not survive you. Sample language for this bequest is below.

“If ___________ (beneficiary) does not survive me, I devise and bequeath my residuary estate to Cape Fear Parrot Sanctuary, Inc., 6515 Old Fort Road, Wilmington, NC 28411, FEIN 46-3948223, to be used for its general purposes.”

Restricted Bequest: Restricted bequests allows you to designate your gift to Cape Fear Parrot Sanctuary, Inc., will be used such as to name an endowment or to support a specific purpose, such as construction of an aviary or the care of your companion parrots.

Other Gifts: You may also help support the birds by naming Cape Fear Parrot Sanctuary, Inc., as the beneficiary of  your: Real estate, IRA’s or other retirement accounts, Life insurance policies, Stocks, bonds, or other securities, mutual funds or bank accounts, personal property. In many cases, these beneficiary designations may be made online or with a quick telephone call.
